HOME STAGING – PORT MACQUARIE, MID-NORTH COAST, NSW
Preparing your home for sale – don’t forget the garden and outdoor space.
Even before prospective buyers have walked through the front door on an ‘open day inspection’ they have formed a ‘first impression’ as to the curb appeal of the property. In fact, they may just drive past not even bothering to visit the inside of the home if the outside doesn’t look inviting.
If you have spent considerable time and effort getting the interior of your home ready for sale – with the added bonus of professional staging – it would be a shame to let the side down with a poorly presented outdoor space and garden.
Talking to a Landscape Designer as soon as you are thinking of putting your home on the market can pay huge dividends, in terms of sale price achieved and the number of days on market. One of Port Macquarie’s leading landscape designers with a ‘let’s get this done’ attitude is Tyson Owen from Signature Landscapes. He has over 15 years design and construction experience and has just relocated his business (and family) from Melbourne to now work and play in the Port Macquarie area. Michelle Burton – chief Diva at Designing Divas (home staging experts) sat down with Tyson recently and asked a few questions.
“Tyson, you are an experienced landscape designer, do you also get your hands dirty when it come to preparing a home’s outdoor space for sale?”
“Absolutely. The good thing about small landscape makeovers to homes getting ready for sale is it is a quick process and can make a huge difference to the appeal… and therefore the price offered for the home. And speed of sale. We aim to make a home stand out. Staging an outdoor space is the landscaping design complement to the DESiGNiNG Divas interior styling. I am a licensed builder, and I have a great team of professionals I can call on when the job needs it.”
“I couldn’t agree more about the styling and good to know you are a ‘hands on’ designer ,” says Michelle. “So what’s the process?”
“It has to start with a design makeover concept – what can be done within an agreed budget and time frame It’s not just a matter of mowing the lawn, trimming the hedges, pruning and a tidy-up (though that is a must). A thorough cleaning and repainting/staining of tired looking areas will do wonders for the home’s appeal. What a landscaping makeover can also give a property is ‘stand out’. A feeling of the home having an outdoor space that is appreciated and enjoyed. Wherever we can we add design elements – either outdoor feature items (permanent or rented, for photography), or the addition of new plants, removal of unsightly flora with a final layer of colour and highlighting key areas to show off the ‘sweet’ spaces. We look at the outdoor space from the inside-out as well as to its appeal on the outside. We offer a simple on-site consultation and leave the client with a to-do list, or we can quote to implement all of the agreed makeover suggestions. Even though we specialise in creating wonderful outdoor spaces for homeowners with realistic budgets we love doing these quick makeovers as, with a little bit of planning and lots of design experience, transformations can be dramatic. And cost-effective with a fantastic return on investment.”
“Thanks Tyson, we look forward to working you on many staging projects in the future,” Michelle Burton, owner of Designing Divas, Port Macquarie. Contact Michelle for a home staging advice (interior spaces and alfresco areas and quote. Link
